My name is Brittany Kotek, MD, and I am a third-year emergency medicine resident at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics.
I spent four weeks on a global health elective in Uganda under the mentorship of UW faculty Dr. Jessica Schmidt. This experience was many things for me as a learner, observer, teacher, and visitor. It was both humbling and challenging to learn my place and purpose in this environment, and how and where I could best add value.
