Hometown: Jackson, WY
Career interests: Med Flight, EMS, Education
Hobbies: I was a professional snowboarder in high school but my career ended when I broke my back (TP at L4, if you must know). I have a master’s degree in Slavonic Studies (basically 9th century Russian) from Oxford. I really like to go to movies by myself. I have a Portuguese Water Dog named Nelson and a rescue kitten named Maeby. My husband and I love to travel – I am a dual UK/US citizen, have lived in the UK and Russia, and have traveled to 42 countries.
Why UWEM? I chose this program because the collaborative, family vibes were obvious from the outset. I’m a big fan of a friendly work environment and was drawn to UW–Madison because everyone seems so happy and welcoming. Flight medicine is a big draw for me, so I was thrilled to find the helicopter hangar right on the roof! Also, as a lover of winter, when I visited Madison in January and found it to be 2 degrees fahrenheit, I knew I had found the place for me! I’ve been in Oregon for the last four years and miss all of my cold weather gear.
