Why UWEM? I chose UW because of the supportive people. I also was impressed by the diverse training environments that the residents are exposed to and felt like this would prepare to practice in just about any setting.

Personal Hobbies: I love climbing/ice climbing, cycling, backpacking, visiting local breweries, and taking road trips. I’ve driven across the country seven times along seven different routes with varying combinations of cats and dogs.
Why UWEM? The family feel of the program where residents are supported both academically and in their personal lives. The program continually strives for improvement, turning feedback into action. The diversity of training sites and opportunities.

Why UWEM? I left my interview day feeling like the leadership at UW were constantly looking for ways to meaningfully improve the program and they were truly invested in their residents’ success both as physicians and as humans outside of work. As someone interested in a career in prehospital and flight medicine, UW’s strong EMS and Med Flight programs and the 3+1 program for fellowships were big draws for me, as well.

Why UWEM? The people! UW stood out as the program with the most approachable, down to earth, and happy residents and faculty of all the programs I interviewed with. On top of that, all of the opportunities to continue my work in the prehospital setting with the EMS programs, Med Flight, and research that UW offers.

Why UWEM? I did my away rotation at UW and could immediately see how supported I would be as a resident. Faculty are dedicated to teaching and genuinely seem to enjoy working with residents. I also appreciate the diverse training environments that allow residents to be prepared for any job coming out of residency.

Personal Hobbies: Reading, weightlifting, smoking meats, anything outdoors like camping, hiking, boating, shooting, etc. especially when it’s with my wife and son. I love sports and would spend just about every Saturday and Sunday in the fall watching football if I could.
Why UWEM? I chose UW-Madison for a variety of reasons. I absolutely loved my interview day and really felt like I would be joining a family if I matched here. I have a big interest in med flight, and getting the opportunity to fly as much as I want to was a huge draw. I knew I wanted to get back to the Midwest for residency, and the reputation, Med Flight opportunities, support from faculty, and proximity to the Packers among so many other reasons made UW-Madison a no-brainer.

Personal Hobbies: Playing with my daughter and taking family walks around the neighborhood top the list now. I also like to get into nature, play soccer, and enjoy tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons.
Why UWEM? It has become my home! The department has a broad swath of opportunities and tracks available to learners, and the whole department is incredibly supportive of learners. I rotated as a medical student and met some of the wonderful staff. The whole department provides incredible support to residents, and I knew the faculty would challenge me to grow into an excellent, well-rounded clinician.
