Fellow Experience
Our two-year, SAEM-approved research fellowship trains physicians to become independent investigators and nationally recognized leaders in emergency medicine research, capable of conducting externally funded clinical or health services research. At the end of the program, fellows will have completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) or other graduate degree, and will be well-prepared to obtain a federal career development award.
The UW Department of Emergency Medicine is a recognized leader in our specialty, ranking highly among academic departments nationally for NIH research funding. Fellows are able to leverage the tremendous resources across the UW–Madison campus as well as its collaborative, interdisciplinary spirit, which promotes connectedness across an extensive network of research programs. The National Science Foundation has also ranked UW–Madison’s world-class research enterprise at sixth nationally.
